Emmerdale’s Beth Cordingly has urged people to be kind to themselves as she opened up on how important it is to regularly ‘take a breath’.
The actress, who plays Ruby Fox-Miligan on the ITV soap, took to social media on her way home from a tiring day of filming to discuss mental health as she sent ‘big love’ to her followers.
‘It’s ok to need to take a breath,’ wrote the soap star, sharing a selfie of the ‘curly’ look she sported on set during the day in question.
‘I’m not very good at that bit either. Be kind to yourself tomorrow please and remember that there’s nothing wrong with you because everyone finds it tricky sometimes.’
Beth admitted that, like everyone else, she tends to ‘forget’ to be kind to herself.
She continued: ‘When your head doesn’t stop and you’re scared of the day and you can’t make decisions and it all feels too much and you feel like a mad person and you don’t know what to do about anything and you think, “why are you like this, stop being mad, there are people with real problems in the world….”.
‘This too shall pass and there are millions of us who all feel the same. Loads and loads of love. All we can do is keep trying …and be kind. Love x’
Fans were quick to comment on Beth’s powerful statement, with user @jazzybge writing: ‘Beautiful words and beautiful photos of you Beth’ while Hannah wrote: ‘Been so busy this week that I needed those reminders. Be kind to yourself too Beth’
Beth, who is in a relationship with former Emmerdale star Ian Kelsey, has received acclaimed for her performance as Ruby, who was at the centre of a huge storyline after it was revealed she was abused by father Anthony when she was a teenager.

Anthony’s arrival in the village left her traumatised, with Ruby subsequently killing him and covering up his death with some assistance from husband Caleb (William Ash) as well as John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) and Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller).
Ruby’s daughter Steph (Georgia Jay) subsequently discovered that Anthony was her biological father and, horrified that her mum was abused by the villain, she agreed to keep quiet about the death.
