Kurt Russell Reportedly Cast in Next Yellowstone Series

Reports have been floating in recent days on Deadline, TVLine,

and other showbiz-oriented sites that C&I cover star Kurt Russell,

three-time Oscar nominee Michelle Pfieffer, and Suits star Patrick J. Adams

have joined the cast of producer Taylor Sheridan’s next Yellowstone series. So far, however, there has been no official announcement from Sheridan or Paramount+ —  and some question as to whether this new series is a sequel or a spinoff.

And Deadline has cautioned: “None of the castings have been confirmed by MTV Entertainment Studios, which produces the series with [Sheridan’s] 101 Studios. Pfeiffer and Russell have both been in talks for months, with their names first tied to the series in February and June, respectively.”

Michelle PfiefferThree-time Oscar nominee Michelle Pfieffer soon may be entering the Taylor Sheridan Universe.According to TVLine: “The offshoot, formerly known as 2024 but now tentatively titled The Madison, is rumored to follow wealthy matriarch Stacy Clyburn and her family as they leave New York City and head to Montana in the wake of her husband and brother-in-law’s tragic deaths in a plane crash.”

At one point, it was assumed that, whatever its title, this would be a sequel to the mothership Yellowstone series, which is set to end after the “final cycle” of Season 5 episodes that kick off Nov. 10 on Paramount Network.

But now there are indications that, no, it will be another spin-off, with a separate sequel series — featuring cast members of the original Yellowstone — also tentatively slated to premiere after the mothership drops anchor. Which would mean, TVLine reported, Paramount “would potentially have two contemporary Yellowstone spinoffs airing simultaneously.” Or something like that.

Little is actually known about The Madison, other than it’s set in the present day, and on focuses Stacy Clyburn, the wealthy matriarch of a family who heads to Montana from New York City following the death of her husband and brother-in-law in a plane crash.” Presumably, Michelle Pfieffer would play Stacy Clyburn. No word yet on what Kurt Russell’s role might be.

And what about Matthew McConaughey, who was widely reported a while back to be a prime contender for a starring role in any new Yellowstone spin-off? If Taylor Sheridan and Paramount know, they’re keeping it to themselves. For now.

Meanwhile, the final episodes of Yellowstone currently are filming in Montana. On Sunday, Wendy Moniz, who been on the show since its first season as first Governor, then Senator Lynelle Perry, posted on Instagram a heartfelt farewell to the Taylor Sheridan Universe.
