New fan theory suggests John actually wanted to kill Aidan – and doesn’t have a hero complex

Emmerdale recently revealed that John did actually kill Nate – and has been hiding quite a lot of secrets. And while many believe he’s suffering from hero complex, some are starting to doubt that’s the case.

Ever since John arrived in the village it was obvious he was hiding something. And now viewers know that was that he has a killer side. He killed Nate and he is the reason Aidan Moore is in a coma. There’s also the fact that he purposefully made Jacob go into anaphylactic shock just so he could save him.

That’s been the over-arching theme of all of his crimes – trying to be the hero. And it led fans to believe he is suffering from hero complex. But after his latest visit to Aidan’s hospital bed, it’s looking like he may just like causing pain.

John showed his nasty side in Emmerdale

Aidan being alive and not actually dead has caused John a lot of issues over the last few days. He originally told Victoria and Aaron that Aidan was someone he knew from the army, who died because he couldn’t save him.

However, that’s not true. The truth is that John is the reason Aidan is currently in a coma, unlikely to ever wake up. And Aaron and Victoria finally found the truth out. And it didn’t go down to well with Aaron.

In Thursday night’s episode (April 24) John went to visit Aidan again. But it wasn’t a very friendly meeting.

Instead, John told Aidan how it was all his fault, and that he wished every day that he would die because it would make John’s life easier.

The visit brought out John’s nasty side. When he had previously spoken to Aidan, he explained how he didn’t feel loved in their relationship. And how he always felt second best.

Did John hurt Aidan on purpose?

So, now some fans are questioning whether or not John is actually just a villain – not suffering from anything.

Taking to X, one viewer wrote: “I’m starting to think John actually meant to kill Aidan and it wasn’t part of a hero complex issue. Maybe Aidan tried to finish things, or perhaps was cheating on him.”

Another backed it up, adding: “He also complained that he was second best to Aidan. It didn’t sound very loving – very fishy.”

A third commented: “Yeah there is definitely more to it. Doesn’t seem to take much to push John over the edge.”

Could John just be getting started? And who should watch their back next?
