ITV Emmerdale hit by Easter schedule shake-up – and fans will be gutted

Emmerdale has been pulled from its usual slot on Bank Holiday Monday.

The ITV soap, which typically airs weeknights at 7.30pm, has confirmed that it will not be shown on April 21.

Instead, ITV will broadcast the EFL football match between Burnley and Sheffield United from 5pm until 7.45pm.

Coronation Street will continue as normal at 8pm and Emmerdale will return the following night (Tuesday, April 22) with an hour-long episode.

Emmerdale is not the only soap facing a schedule change on Monday, as EastEnders will air at the earlier time of 6.50pm instead of 7.30pm on BBC One.

The Disney movie Dumbo will take its place on the channel and EastEnders will return the next day at 7.30pm.

Later, Billy picks up Dawn’s phone, but is taken aback to realise she’s changed the code, fuelling his suspicions further.

He’s devastated when Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) fuels his theory that Ross and Dawn are having an affair and he confronts Ross about his suspicions, leading to a scuffle between the men.

After Dawn walks in, Billy’s embarrassed to have accidentally voiced his theory about her infidelity in front of Clemmie Reed (Mabel Addison), reports Leeds Live.

Stunned by his mistake, Billy tries to console Clemmie, but she wants nothing to do with him, and Billy is disheartened to realise his suspicions were unfounded.

Billy, heartbroken by his mistakes, is later consoled by Joe. As a distraught Billy hugs him, Joe is consumed with guilt, knowing he’s the source of Billy’s anguish.

Billy departs from Home Farm, and Joe comforts a remorseful Dawn, assuring her it’s for the best.
