Camden and Bode hit it off in Fire Country season 3, episode 5,
with Camden immediately recognizing Bode for the kind of firefighter
he could be. In Camden, Bode finally found someone willing to let him
pursue the most dangerous tasks to save people. Meeting him as a cadet, Camden wasn’t burdened by Bode’s past, seeing his true potential and not a past version of Bode like his loved ones. Camden openly told Bode to harness the “wolf” inside him, recognizing it for what it was and offering a cautionary tale of what could happen if he didn’t.Indeed, Fire Country season 3, episode 5 presented Camden’s backstory as the thing that haunts him because he didn’t listen to his gut and his team died as a result. This not only explains Camden’s peculiar approach when training cadets, but it also passes Bode a message that any other of his mentors had yet to teach him. Seeing Bode’s family and friends trying to manage Bode’s instincts instead of letting him follow them alerted Camden of the risk his history could repeat itself with Bode, making Camden the firefighter who understood Bode the most in Fire Country season 3.
