Jared Padalecki Is Coming to ‘Fire Country’—and Could Potentially Lead a Spinoff

The ‘Supernatural’ star is reportedly set to guest star in Season 3 — find

out who he’s playing and how he might stick around

Things on Fire Country are about to get a little bit…supernatural.

Deadline first reported and Parade can confirm that Jared Padalecki, best known for playing demon hunter Sam Winchester on the fan-favorite CW series Supernatural, will be joining Fire Country Season 3 for a three-episode guest star arc. Not only that, but there’s also a possibility Padalecki could get a spinoff of his own, joining the upcoming Sheriff Country in building out the Fire Country universe.

Padalecki will play Camden Casey, who is described as “a SoCal firefighter and maverick with a surfer swagger who is a force to be reckoned with and immediately recognizes Bode’s (Max Thieriot) raw talent.”

“We launch Camden Casey in a really dynamic way,” showrunner Tea Napolitano told TVLine on Wednesday, August 14. “We were so excited about casting Jared and he’s really going to flip the script in Edgewater.”

“Everyone in Bode’s life before Camden hits the scene is sort of trying to tame a tiger when it comes to Bode to make sure he works the program so he can get out,” Napolitano continued. about the third season’s story lines. “Camden is more Bode than anyone else on our show. I think they’re twin flames and similar and Camden’s able to encourage, draw out maybe the dangerous side of Bode, but he sees the talent and leans into it. He doesn’t try to put lightning back into the bottle.”

Fire Country tells the story of firefighter Bode Donovan (Thieriot, who also co-created the series and serves as an executive producer), who served time in prison and is trying to put his life back together in his tight-knit, wildfire-prone Northern California town.A spinoff, Sheriff Country, was ordered to series earlier this year for a planned premiere during the 2025-26 season. That series will star Morena Baccarin as Sheriff Mickey Fox, who was introduced in a Season 2 episode of Fire Country. Her introduction was also intended to lay the foundation for a potential spinoff, so there’s a precedent for how a spinoff can happen if Padalecki’s guest appearance is well-received. To be clear, the spinoff idea is in very early stages of development, and has a long way to go before it comes to fruition. If it does, it could either air on CBS or exclusively stream on Paramount+.In addition to Supernatural, on which he starred from 2005 to 2020, Padalecki is known for his performances on Gilmore Girls and Walker, the latter of which he also executive-produced. The modern Western series ran for four seasons on the CW before its cancellation this past spring. Coming up, he also booked a guest-starring role in Season 5 of Amazon’s hit superhero series The Boys, which will reunite him with Supernatural creator Eric Kripke.
