Former Coronation Street actor Luca Toolan has celebrated his 21st birthday with a sweet tribute to his mum and famous dad.
The soap star is famed for playing Weatherfield’s troubled teen Mason Radcliffe. He arrived on the Cobbles in 2023 but bowed out of the ITV soap earlier this year in a terrifying knife crime storyline.
After a turbulent year, Mason planned to leave Weatherfield for a new life in Germany after bagging a job as a chef. But on the day of his departure, he was tragically stabbed by his own brother.
Despite receiving emergency care, Mason was later pronounced dead in heartbreaking scenes.
Now, three months on from his Corrie exit Luca looks a world away from his soap character as he celebrates his milestone birthday.
Mike Toolan, Luca’s dad, is a radio DJ, currently presenting a show on Hits radio every weekday afternoon working alongside the likes of Coronation Street’s Brooke Vincent and Hollyoaks’ Gemma Atkinson.
Sharing a snap from his 21st birthday celebration, Luca sits beside Mike and puts his arm around his shoulder. The father and son sport matching moustaches as they smile at the camera and pose for a photo.
Luca sweetly captioned the photo: “Twenty flipping one. Genuinely feel so lucky to have such an incredible circle around me.
“From earlier school days to people I’ve met from acting recently, and everything in between. God bless you all.
He added: “My old man thank you for being such a supportive role model and mum thank you for being you I love you both so much.”
Luca’s former Corrie co-stars left flurries of well wishes for the actor, with Simon Barlow star Alex Bain writing: “Sorry I’m so late! Hope you had a brilliant day! And I hope you got the bevs in too.”
Dylan Wilson star Liam Mccheyne stated: “Happy birthday pickle”, followed by a love heart.
