Is Severide leaving Chicago Fire? The new season 13 episode 3 promo has fans worried

Could 51 be about to lose yet another key member of its cast?

Well, that’s the fear on the mind of Chicago Fire fans after the way

in which the show’s second episode ended and the promo for the show’s third episode of the season.

As the second episode of Chicago Fire season 13 came to a close, Severide sat down with Damon and made it clear: one of them has to leave 51. This omission came after Severide realized he was going out of his way to look out for Damon and their relationship was clouding his judgement leading to special treatment he would never give to others.

Earlier in the episode when responding to a call involving a woman trapped under a boat, Damon disregarded an order from Kidd and rushed right into action. While Kidd gave him the benefit of the doubt after he told her he didn’t hear the call made, Damon later admitted to Severide that he indeed heard Kidd’s order and disregarded it out of a desire of wanting to race into the action.

At first, Severide covers for Damon, but following a conversation with Cruz in which Cruz tells Severide to be careful as he knows what it’s like to have a younger brother who got the short end of the stick, and to have a desire to overcompensate with the desire to try to help them in life.

Following this conversation with Cruz, Severide comes clean to Kidd about Damon lying to her and Kidd is understandably frustrated that not only did Damon lie to her, but so did Severide. After Kidd confronts Damon, he goes to meet up with Severide after shift and confronts him about telling her to which Severide makes one thing clear: one of them has to leave 51.

As if Severide’s ultimatum to Damon at the end of Chicago Fire season 13 episode 2 wasn’t enough to make fans worry that Severide could perhaps choose to walk away from 51, the promo left fans speechless and worried that we could indeed be about to see someone leave 51.

In the promo, we hear Chief Pascal telling someone, “You’ve broken my trust, now I’m dismissing you from this firehouse” as the show then cuts to shots of Kidd, Damon, and Severide, which hints that one of the three are about to be let go from the firehouse.

While the promo seems to suggest that it’s one of these three characters, fans are most concerned that it’s Severide who could be in the most danger due to the conversation he had with Chief Pascal in the premiere.

When meeting with Severide, Chief Pascal made it clear that he wasn’t a fan of Severide and Kidd finding a loophole in the CFD ordinances which states immediate family members should not work the same firehouse in the same shift. As Chief Pascal told Severide, “Going on calls with family members can be trouble,” to which Severide assured him that they had things under control.
