There are fears surrounding Beth Cordingly and an Emmerdale exit after Ruby revealed her plan to confess to Anthony’s muder tonight. Although Caleb talked her out of it, she made it very clear she is not afraid to tell the police everything.
With Steph at rock bottom, Ruby knew she needed to act and felt confessing was the only way. So what does this mean Ruby’s future – and that of actress Beth in Emmerdale?

Steph hits rock bottom
Tonight’s upsetting episode of Emmerdale saw Steph really spiral. Desperate to change her face so she no longer sees her dad/grandad Anthony when she looks in the mirror, Steph was distraught when her parents stopped her getting surgery.
So on Thursday night she smashed up the house and attacked boyfriend Ross. She then drove off with a bottle of vodka and intended to cut her face with the broken bottle. As Caleb and Ruby begged her not to hurt herself, she told them: “I’m not, I’m just making it better.” Fortunately, they got into the car and saved her before she could go through with it.
Back at home, Ruby insisted to Caleb they had to get their daughter proper, professional help. The consequences of that of course are that Steph might blow their murder secret wide open. Ruby however stood firm that she would deal with that.

Shock as Ruby plans to confess to killing Anthony in Emmerdale
Caleb worried as he wants to protect everyone, but Ruby had a plan. She told him: “This is what we’re going to do. Tomorrow you’re going to take me to the police station and I will hand myself in so that Steph can speak to that psychiatrist openly and properly.”
Despite Caleb’s protests, Ruby carried on: “This was always about protecting her and now we are this close to losing her. We are out of options.”
Caleb firmly replied: “You’re not handing yourself in.”
But Ruby confirmed: “If I have to pick between Steph and freedom, I pick Steph.”
Although they agreed Ruby would not confess for now, but would do if Steph said something incriminating, will Ruby let it get that far? And can Steph really open up and work through her trauma if she has to concentrate on keeping such big secrets?

As far as we know, Beth Cordingly is not leaving Emmerdale as Ruby. There has been no indication from either the actress herself or Emmerdale that Beth is set to exit. In fact, she regularly posts on her social media that she loves her job.
This seems to be just another twist in the storyline. Eventually the secret will have to come out – it always does in Soapland – but we’re very hopeful that doesn’t mean Beth will have to leave.
In the back of our minds, we’re thinking maybe John Sugden finished the job – it ties in with all his other secrets and would definitely free Ruby from having to leave.
Whatever happens, Ruby and Caleb are fast becoming one of our favourite soap couples and we hope they will weather this storm too and come out the other side fighting.
