Prison exit ‘on the cards’ for Emmerdale’s Cain in unexpected murder twist

Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) finds himself questioned over a murder charge when a body is discovered in next week’s Emmerdale.

Guilty parties panic when a body is discovered in the lake, and Ruby (Beth Cordingly) and Caleb Miligan (Will Ash) immediately suspect that it’s Anthony’s.

However, it’s not long before the police reveal that the body is actually that of missing Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter), who hasn’t been seen since leaving the village last year.

Nate disappeared shortly after being beaten up by his own dad over (false!) allegations of an affair with Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb).

Viewers will be aware that Nate was actually killed by John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth), whose attempt to help Nate with his Cain Dingle-related injuries backfired when he accidentally killed the man instead.

With Cain having beaten up Nate shortly before his ‘disappearance,’ it’s not long before the police start asking some difficult questions.

As the week begins, Ruby, Caleb, Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) and Cain are terrified to think that Anthony’s body has been discovered.

However, a police visit to Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh) reveals that the body is Nate’s, and not Anthony.

At the farm, a blindsided Cain and Moira learn that the body is so decomposed that he can’t even visit his son.

Meanwhile, as she attempts to process the news, Tracy recalls Nate’s final hours in the village.

Talk soon turns to Cain, who is now in the frame due to his fight with Nate on the day that he died.

As he undergoes police questioning, an indignant Cain reaches boiling point.

Back in the village, Cain’s family wonder whether he could have been responsible for Nate’s death, with even Chas wondering whether he might have had motive.

Cain offers a grieving Tracy his support, but his behaviour leaves her wondering whether he could have killed Nate… sharing her suspicions with sister Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick).

With the family still reeling over the recent news, DC Cole arrives with yet another bombshell.

There’s been another development… but is this good or bad news for Cain?
