Peter Beale (Thomas Law) has made a huge decision – destroying his fiancée Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa).
The two have struggled immensely in recent weeks. Following the birth of their son Jimmy, doctors informed Peter and Lauren that the child was severely sight-impaired.
Lauren has blamed herself for Jimmy’s diagnosis, believing it was caused by her painkiller addiction while she was pregnant.
Earlier this week it transpired that Peter felt the same way – and couldn’t bring himself to look at her or their son. Following an explosive intervention staged by Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) and Kathy Cotton (Gillian Taylforth), Lauren stormed out.
Heading straight to The Queen Vic, she ordered an alcoholic drink from Linda Carter (Kellie Bright), who ultimately wouldn’t let her relapse.
Lauren later stumbled across Zack Hudson (James Farrar), and he took her back to his flat for a heart to heart. As per most of these intimate soap opera conversations, it didn’t take long for them to fall into each other’s arms and kiss…

…and when Lauren woke up at his flat in today’s instalment, she was full of regret.
Thankfully, she hadn’t slept with Zack, but realised the error of her ways by staying out all night while a concerned Peter paced around the kitchen with baby Jimmy.
Cindy told him that he should consider himself for once, and perhaps enquire about a private hospital appointment that would be able to confirm her grandson’s diagnosis.
Peter bumped into her at the cafe and demanded to know where she was and what had happened, with Lauren sneakily saying she’d spent the night at her friend’s house.
He was furious that she was evidently lying, and went off to the hospital alone. While there, he was given serious food for thought about Jimmy’s future, and came home to make amends.

The only way he and Lauren could move forward would be if she was totally transparent, but she wasn’t prepared to divulge where she’d been all evening.
Realising he had missed calls from Linda, Peter decided that if Lauren wouldn’t open up, she might hold the answers. Lauren knew that it would sound better if she revealed she almost relapsed, but the consequences were just as devastating.
Peter asserted that their relationship was over, and he was moving out. As he began packing his bags, he told her that he was going to make it his mission to prove that the kids are better off without her.
Is this really the end for them both?
