Ross and Steph in Emmerdale are the best couple the soap has had in ages. There. We said it. And we mean it.
In reality, Ross is actually the best character in Emmerdale full stop. But his partnership with Steph just works.
Come to think of it, they are gearing up to be the new Caleb and Ruby – solid no matter what life throws at them. We just hope they can weather the storms too.

Ross was amazing in Thursday’s episode
As Steph had a complete meltdown over her failed surgery attempts, she launched an abusive attack on Ross. He only tried to comfort her. He was sweet, kind and understanding. Despite his gruff, bad boy exterior, he has a soft inside – and we love to see it.
Trying his best to offer words of comfort to Steph, Ross stayed calm. She insulted him, abused him and physically beat him, begging her to hit him back.
“I won’t hurt you. I will never hurt you.” He told her. Aw. We’re not crying, you’re crying.
As Steph tries to come to terms with everything that has happened to her, Ross just wants to be there for her. He’s not pressuring her for intimacy because he knows she isn’t ready and he’s always there to support her no matter what. It makes for a winning partnership in our book.

A wedding
Ross has spent a lifetime being the ‘other man’. His relationships seem to all have been in the shadows – Donna, for example and Debbie, who was engaged to his brother Pete at the time. It’s time he was the chosen one.
Actor Michael Parr has never had an on-screen wedding in Emmerdale. Perhaps Ross just isn’t the marrying type. But we’d love to see it!
Imagine Ruby in full wedding planning mode? It would be fabulous!

Steph to fall pregnant by Ross in Emmerdale?
We are totally here for this idea! Way back when Georgia Jay first arrived as Steph and immediately hooked up with Ross, fans were predicting a pregnancy and baby storyline for them.
We think navigating being parents together would be a brilliant storylines. Ross already has son Moses, but we don’t see them interact that much. He has the qualities to be a great dad – making plenty of mistakes, but loving his child with all his heart. Just look at how he also cared for Rebecca’s son Seb and Donna’s girl April. Ross was made to be a dad.
Meanwhile, a baby could be just what Steph needs to help her move forward. Of course, she would need to deal with her trauma and get to a stronger place first. But it might put into perspective her life and help her think about others a bit more.
Happily ever after
If there’s one thing Emmerdale is often under fire for, it’s the amount of doom and gloom in its storylines. They are permenantly giving couples drama and splitting them up. No one is ever just happy.
So what better ending for our fave character Ross than to get a happy ever after with Steph? It’s about time someone in Emmerdale did!

What does the future hold for Steph and Ross in Emmerdale?
Sadly, we’re not sure the future looks as bright as we would like for these two. Spoilers for next week reveal Steph ends their relationship.
She wants to focus on her recovery and not rely on him. Steph believes this way it will spare his feelings, especially after her attack on him on Thursday.
Ross is devastated and drowns his sorrows with Manpreet – who he ends up spending the night with! He then tries to avoid Caleb the next day so he doesn’t see him and Manpreet together.
Has Ross just blown any chance he has of getting back together with Steph? Or will time heal enough that she can see a future with him?
We hope it’s the latter!
