John Sugden’s killer secret is under threat in next week’s Emmerdale spoilers as Cain decides to go to Shetland in search of missing Nate. Can he find a way to stop Cain travelling up to Scotland and discovering his son was never there?

John is playing a dangerous game over Nate in Emmerdale spoilers

After weeks of fervent speculation the truth is now out – John killed Nate Robinson. Shocking flashback scenes revealed the medic injected Nate with a fatal dose of liquid medication after his brawl with Cain. John didn’t intend for Nate to die – he was playing the hero and trying to save him – but it all went tragically wrong.

Nate’s body is now floating at the bottom of a lake, and John fears it’s only a matter of time before its discovered. To make things worse, Nate’s loved ones are starting to question why they haven’t heard a peep from him since he moved to Shetland.

Is John’s wicked web of lies about to unravel?

Ahead of Nate’s birthday, Tracy gives Cain a card that she and Frankie have made for him. Cain also decides to give his son a call and leaves Nate a voicemail, unaware that John has his phone.

Later, John listens to the message and panics when he sees an incoming call from Cain. He accidentally answers it and hears Cain’s voice on the other end. Soon the guilt gets too much for John as he cuts the call then drops Nate’s mobile.

Next day, John panics when he spies Cain leaving Nate another voicemail. Cain is now desperate to get in touch with Nate and John knows he’s got to be clever in order to stay one step ahead of the game.

As John continues to plot, Cain tells Moira about the silent call with Nate. She’s upset for her husband but urges Cain not to give up on his quest to make amends with his estranged offspring.

John learns Cain is planning to visit Nate in Emmerdale spoilers

Spurred on by Moira’s words, Cain goes to see Tracy and find out if she has Nate’s new contact details. She’s unable to help him and Cain realises the extent of Tracy’s struggles with Nate having seemingly abandoned her and Frankie.

After spending some quality time with his young granddaughter, Cain decides it’s his job to bring the family back together. He announces to Tracy that he’s going to Shetland to find out what Nate is playing out.

Later, John’s worst fears are realised when he pops by to see Tracy and she reveals Cain’s travel plans. What will John do now?
