EastEnders actress Lacey Turner has shared the memorable moment she announced her pregnancy to her fellow cast members. Best known for her role as Stacey Slater, Turner opened up about the experience during an episode of Giovanna Fletcher’s podcast, Happy mum Happy Baby.
Reflecting on a taxing day at work while filming demanding courtroom scenes, Turner recounted to Fletcher: “I was literally falling asleep filming the court scenes for Dinos. My head was on the table. The director must have thought, ‘What has got into her?’ because I’m not someone who relaxes – I’m always up and about.”
Turner noticed that it was her female co-stars who sensed her exhaustion. She continued: “I was in a room full of men who had no idea what was going on.”
The revelation came when she was with the group she refers to as The Six, during a break in a Winnebago. Turner recalled: “But then I was filming with the six women, you know, The Six. We were in the Winnebago, and they were like, ‘Oh, how are you feeling?’. And I was like, ‘Well, I’m actually pregnant’. And they all literally fell to their knees.”

For Turner, this disclosure was especially poignant as these colleagues were the first to hear of her pregnancy. She confided in them knowing she couldn’t conceal her tiredness any longer on set, reports the Mirror.
She candidly opened up about her recent experiences on set: “I thought, they must be thinking, ‘What is she doing? Why does she keep falling asleep everywhere?’ Normally, you can pop up to your dressing room, but I didn’t have a dressing room to hide. I had nowhere to hide. I was just stuck in the Winnebago with everyone looking at me.”
Lacey welcomed her third child with her husband Matt Kay on 17 January. The couple, who tied the knot in 2017, are already doting parents to their five year old daughter Dusty and three year old son Trilby.
Revealing her baby’s arrival, Lacey posted an adorable image of Dusty and Trilby planting gentle kisses on their new sister’s forehead – an intimate moment that officially announced her latest addition after only going public with her pregnancy in September with the heartfelt caption to her followers: “Aren’t we lucky?”
Despite having just given birth five weeks prior, admired by fans, Lacey made a stunning return to work. Her powerful performance coincided perfectly with the EastEnders’ historic 40th-anniversary celebrations, which included a gripping live episode.
Emotions ran high as audiences witnessed Stacey’s world shatter on screen when her former husband Martin Fowler tragically met his end in the Queen Vic after heroically saving her from a massive collapse.
In his poignant last moments, a fleeting sense of nostalgia filled the air as Martin and Stacey reflected on their past love, culminating in a marriage proposal amid the chaos – unbeknownst to Martin that paramedics had predicated his fate if extracted from under the debris where a large metal beam painfully pinned him down.
Matt, Lacey’s husband, couldn’t help but express his immense pride in her following a stellar performance at work. He said: “I am absolutely bursting with pride for my wife and the incredible job she did at work this evening. Her dedication and hard work shone through as she tackled an extremely tough challenge with grace and determination, especially considering she only just gave birth five weeks ago.”
