Emmerdale Matty’s new love interest ‘revealed’ after Amy death – and it’s with older woman

Emmerdale fans have ‘figured out’ Matty Barton’s next love interest following the tragic death of wife Amy.

Matty (Ash Palmisciano) has been a firm favourite on the ITV soap since his debut back in 2018. As the son of Moira (Natalie J. Robb), Matty’s played a part in several big storylines.

From a shock prison stint to his adorable marriage to Amy (Natalie Ann Jamieson), his time in the Dales has not been short of memorable. Especially at the moment, as last month, Amy was tragically killed off in a twist nobody saw coming.

As fans will recall, Amy was one of the many villagers inside the limo that ended up crashing into an icy lake. And although she managed to make it out alive, in heartbreaking scenes, she later tragically died in hospital.

Other villagers who died included Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi) and Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough). Following Amy’s death, Matty has been left devastated – with her mum Kerry (Laura Norton) now looking after him.

And last week, Amy’s funeral took place and saw several of her family and friends come together to pay their respects. Matty also gave a heartbreaking speech, describing Amy as his “soulmate”.

The emotion got too much for Matty though, while reading a poem at Amy’s funeral. Kerry then stepped in to help and took over the reading.

However, fans can’t help but think that Matty is set for a shock new romance – and it’s with someone fans would not expect. Sharing their thoughts online, fans have claimed to have spotted a ‘moment’ between Matty and Kerry.

A third chimed in and penned: “I thought that as well. Definitely a spark but I hope I’m wrong!” Echoing their thoughts, another person said on the social media platform: “I really hope they don’t put them together!”
