Freddy May Return: Mystery Solved In New ‘Fire Country’ Update

We’ve passed the halfway mark of Fire Country season 2,

and we still haven’t seen Freddy Mills (W. Tre Davis)

make an appearance. Ahead of the show’s return for its sophomore run,

it had been assumed that he would be a part of the effort to free Bode after his friend took the fall for a crime he didn’t commit in order to cut through the red tape keeping Freddy from being released. However, that didn’t happen.

Bode made his way back to Three Rock Fire Camp in the season 2 opener, “Something’s Coming,” after an altercation with Sleeper during an earthquake gave him the leverage to press his former friend turned enemy into telling the truth. From there, the show moved on and didn’t look back. Still, Freddy has remained on the minds of fans who adore Davis’ portrayal of Bode’s first friend at camp.

One such viewer asked TVLine’s Matt Webb Mitovich if we’ll see Freddy again, and he took the question to showrunner Tia Napolitano. According to Mitovich, she briefly hedged but then said, “I can’t answer that right now.” Giving neither a yes or no answer is intriguing considering Davis was spotted at the Fire Country season 2 wrap party (check out Sabina Gadecki’s Instagram post!).

Of course, this isn’t confirmation that he’ll be making his return to the show this season, but we have four episodes left after “Alert the Sheriff” premieres on Apr. 12. The seventh episode of season 2, “A Hail Mary,” airs Apr. 26 and its synopsis tells of a crisis at Three Rock. They’re under threat of closure due to the events of episode 6.

Public opinion has increasingly become negative about the fire camp, so what better way to spin the narrative than to invite back members of the hand crew who did their time and duty before returning to their lives outside of prison? And, in Freddy’s case if he does appear in the episode, it’s an opportunity to remind the people of Edgewater that there are folks who are incarcerated who were wrongly convicted.

If Davis doesn’t make an appearance in this season, his presence at the wrap party might suggest that we’ll see him in Fire Country season 3 which has already been greenlit by CBS. I’ll keep you updated as more news comes in. Stay tuned to Hidden Remote!
