Fire Country Season 3’s Gabriela Tragedy Repeats Edgewater’s Most Ridiculous Case

Fire Country season 2 ending on a cliffhanger ensured Gabriela and Diego’s

wedding wouldn’t be resolved that easily, and its season 3 trailer suggests why,

however, the tragedy also hints at another case from Fire Country season 1.

Fire Country season 2’s finale dealt with the aftermath of Bode and Gabriela’s kiss at the campaign fire, which left Gabriela unsure about whether to marry Diego in Fire Country. Gabriela eventually decided to make the sensible choice of proceeding with the wedding in Fire Country season 2, episode 10, even if the episode’s last moments cast doubt over her certainty.

With Fire Country season 3’s trailer picking up right after season 2’s finale, Gabriela and Diego’s wedding can be seen crashed by flying debris breaking the church’s stained glass, making it possible for Gabriela to avoid her feelings a little bit longer. Fire Country seasons 1 and 2 had a great deal of unbelievable challenges for Edgewater’s firefighters, including power cuts, chemical fires and even season 2’s mid-season firenado. However, Fire Country season 3’s unbelievable helicopter crash into Edgewater and the surrounding area closely resembles a similar accident from Fire Country season 1, episode 10, “Get Your Hopes Up.”

A Helicopter Crashes Gabriela’s Wedding In Fire Country Season 3 Trailer
The Unlikely Event Seemingly Sets Up Fire Country Season 3’s Premiere’s Action

While briefly recapping what Gabriela and Bode were working toward in Fire Country season 2’s finale, season 3’s trailer propels all Edgewater firefighters to action by revealing that the accident that had happened just outside the church was a helicopter crash. Fire Country season 3’s trailer doesn’t explain what brought the helicopter to fly so close to the ground that it crashed into Edgewater, but it nonetheless details all the structures affected by the crash. Still, no matter what could have reasonably caused that accident, Fire Country season 3 made an event so unlikely in real life stop Gabriela’s wedding.

With 120 helicopter crashes happening on average in the US (via AirMed&Rescue) per year, Fire Country really chose one of the least likely events to give Gabriela an out during her wedding, letting her stop it without having to face the music. Indeed, despite having various doubts about starting a life with Diego after her kiss with Bode, the helicopter crash gives Gabriela the chance to focus on an emergency and pour everything into that instead of dealing with her feelings, even spending time with Bode on the rescue as Fire Country season 3’s trailer shows.

Fire Country Season 3’s Helicopter Crash Is Reminiscent Of The Box Car Accident In Season 1
Fire Country Season 1, Episode 10’s Box Truck Crash Saw Station 42 Hit

Fire Country season 3’s helicopter crash isn’t just peculiar because of its unlikelihood. Indeed, the accident also mirrors Fire Country season 1, episode 10’s box truck crash, which saw an overworked driver crash his truck into Station 42’s entrance, wounding inmate firefighters and civilians as a result. That case was unexpected and occasionally ridiculous, especially in the way it caused one problem after the other, but it also was deeply emotional because of Charlie’s newly acquired freedom and his being wounded by the fire engine.

Fire Country season 3’s helicopter crash promises to be similarly affecting. Between Gabriela’s questions and doubts as the trailer’s voiceover shows and how Diego could see Gabriela’s uncertainty just before the vows, Fire Country season 3’s premiere will have to tackle the helicopter crash much more seriously than the box truck crash, causing long-lasting consequences if it were to kill one of Fire Country’s cast of characters in season 3.
