Fire Country Season 3’s Bode Tease Can Finally Pay Off The Character’s Original Goal

Fire Country season 2’s finale finally brought Bode’s story back to its origin,

promising a thrilling new focus for season 3. Ever since Fire Country’s series

premiere introduced Bode’s plight, his focus had been to work through the

rest of his sentence and do so as an inmate firefighter, hoping that serving the community would reduce his sentence. Fire Country season 1 included many obstacles for Bode in the form of his return to Edgewater by ending up at the Three Rock fire camp, inevitably letting him clash with his friends and family whom he abandoned after his sister’s death.

Between quarrelling with Vince and dealing with his mother Sharon’s illness, Bode had his hands full in Fire Country season 1, reconnecting with Eve, Jake and his family while also focusing on fighting fires as an inmate under Manny’s watchful eye. Bode’s objective of getting out of prison earlier never wavered, but it took a different shape the moment he became involved with Gabriela. Indeed, the reasons motivating Bode’s wish to be released changed when he fell for Gabriela. However, Bode getting his freedom and the ending of Fire Country season 2’s finale showed a different approach for season 3.

Bode’s Choice In Fire Country Season 2’s Ending Shows His Focus On His Future In Season 3
Asking Luke For Help To Become A Firefighter Puts The Focus Back On Bode

Bode’s choice to leave Gabriela’s wedding in Fire Country season 2’s finale simultaneously let him turn the page on his and Gabriela’s history and put himself first, something he started doing in season 2 due to his intention not to meddle with Gabriela and Diego. While Bode’s change of focus throughout Fire Country season 2 was less intentional, choosing to leave the ceremony showed Bode’s active decision to look toward his future. By asking Luke for help and even to pull some strings, Bode decided what his future was going to be and started working to achieve it.

Such a development in season 2’s finale highlights what the focus of Bode’s story can be in Fire Country season 3. With Bode decided on pursuing his one “healthy addiction” of firefighting, he will likely be as single-minded about it as he was about being with Gabriela in season 1 and getting to know Genevieve in season 2. However, focusing on becoming a Cal Fire firefighter can finally bring the spotlight back on Bode, making Fire Country season 3 about Bode turning his life around as a free man intentionally after the already important achievement of getting out of prison.

The focus of Fire Country season 2’s ending being on Bode choosing himself and his future as a firefighter hints at season 3 shining a light on his story, just like in Fire Country ’s beginning.

Bode Not Pursuing Gabriela In Fire Country Season 2 Helped His Original Goal
Stopping To Focus On His Feelings For Gabriela Got Bode His Freedom

Fire Country season 1 showed Bode invested in getting out so that he could live his relationship with Gabriela freely, even having the promise of them being together hinge on his release. However, choosing to sacrifice his shot at freedom so that Freddy could be released essentially put a stop to the chance of a relationship between Bode and Gabriela, even more so as Bode decided to stop answering Gabriela’s letters, forcing her to move on from him. Bode’s terrible choice in Fire Country season 1’s ending nonetheless gave him the chance to focus solely on himself in season 2.Despite undoubtedly still having feelings for Gabriela, Bode refused to voice them, even letting her believe he had moved on. With the possibility of Genevieve being his biological daughter taking all his attention, Bode forced himself not to interfere with Gabriela’s life, thus focusing more on his goals. While gaining his extraordinary conduct credit as a result of his actions in the campaign fire, it was Bode’s focus on saving Three Rock and getting there that made such heroism possible, which would have been difficult to obtain had Bode been actively hung up on Gabriela in Fire Country season 2.
