Clearly, Netflix subscribers love Virgin River (2019–2024 ).

Now that it has been announced that the end of the series is

not in sight for the time being and that a spin-off is also being worked on,

fans can breathe easy again. At least, most of them. There is quite a bit of disagreement about the characters chosen for the prequel.

More Virgin River is very welcome, but what if it’s the wrong characters? In the last episode so far, we saw that Everett is Mel’s biological father. Although we have barely gotten to know the character, he will play a very important role. He and Sarah, Mel’s late mother, will play the main characters in the spin-off.

Not interested

According to fans, this is the wrong choice. These characters have just been introduced and already they will lead the spin-off. There is little to no interest from fans in the story of Mel’s parents. There would be Virgin River characters that seem much more interesting. There is more interest in the backstories of Hope and Doc, Muriel, but also in the adventures that Preacher has experienced. Only time will tell if fans will get used to the idea and eventually warm up to the spin-off.
