Coronation Street star Simon Gregson has said he “couldn’t be prouder” as he shared a picture to social media with his three children. Simon has played the role of Steve McDonald onCoronation Street for over three decades, after joining the soap in 1989.
He has been a much-loved character on the soap over the years, known best for his comic side and history of unsuccessful love affairs. Off-screen his life is very different to his Coronation Street counterpart.
He shares three children with his wife, former Hollyoaks actress Emma Gleave. The two married in 2010 and are proud parents to Alfie, born in 2007, Henry, born in 2009 and Teddy, born in 2016.
On Instagram yesterday, Simon wrote: “My world in 1 picture being a dad is the best thing in my life and I couldn’t be prouder of our three boys.”
Fans of the Coronation Street legend commented on the family selfie. Joanne wrote: “Such a great pic of you all, such handsome boys you have Simon” and Sharon commented Beautiful photo of you and your sons.”
Jenni agreed “what a great photo Simon” and Susan responded “Lovely photo. Lovely looking lads”, alongside a hand clapping emoji. The post was uploaded to mark Father’s Day.

The family of five live in Cheshire. After his appearance on ITV’s reality show I’m A Celeb, Simon revealed the heart-wrenching journey he and his wife experienced to create their family.
On The Likely Dads podcast with Tim Vincent, he revealed that Emma had suffered 11 miscarriages, with one baby girl tragically passing away at 21 weeks.
The ITV star often shows the pride he has for his family. Simon’s wife now runs The Tea Room in Cheshire and she has been supported by her husband. Last year he took to Instagram to share the happy news that Emma’s café has won an award.
He shared a snap of his wife on Instagram with the caption: “So so super proud of my baby girl 5 star hygiene rating and the good food award two years running all the hard work every day 7 days a week she truly deserves it.” When Simon isn’t filming Corrie scenes, he often works at his wife’s café.
Delving deeper into his personal life, he told Fuelling Around podcast: ” “I got called Steve by my mum once at home. I mean, it was a genuine mistake.

“She went, ‘I’ve been talking with Steve all day at work.’ I was like, I know, but it’s the last thing I need at home. Bless my poor mum, it was genuine. But yeah, I get called Steve all the time, all the time.”
