Yellowstone fans can breathe a sigh of relief.

Despite recent behind-the-scenes drama,

lead actor Kevin Costner has confirmed he will return for the second half of season 5, set to premiere in

November 2023. Costner’s Turn as John Dutton ContinuesRumors swirled about whether Costner would be back following reports of tension with show creator Taylor Sheridan and issues over profit participation.

But Sheridan reiterated the show wouldn’t move forward without its patriarch John Dutton, powerfully played by Costner since the pilot.

Sheridan stated, “We created this thing together…and it’s been a wonderful journey. There’s no way we could wrap it up without him.” Costner later announced he had no intention of walking away before properly finishing John Dutton’s story in season 5’s final episodes.

More Details on Spin-Off SeriesThe decision to split season 5 into two parts was a strategic move by Sheridan to set up new spin-off shows Tulsa King and The Wrap. Sheridan shared that both series will debut in early 2024 following Yellowstone’s conclusion.

Tulsa King focuses on Sylvester Stallone’s mafia character, while The Wrap explores a ranch managed by Luke Grimes’ Kayce Dutton. The spin-offs allow the Yellowstone universe to expand while still providing closure.
