Exclusive: Coronation Street’s Tanisha Gorey addresses co-star’s exit after five years

Coronation Street star Tanisha Gorey has spoken for the first time about an upcoming exit for the Alahan family.

The long-standing Weatherfield clan will lose a member later this year, as Adam Hussain bows out from the role of Aadi Alahan.

Tanisha, who plays Aadi’s twin sister Asha, addressed the news while catching up with us on the red carpet at the British Soap Awards 2025.

In an exclusive chat, she told us: “Oh, my second brother! Obviously I’ve worked with Adam for five years now and he’s amazing. I love the bones of him.

“But he’s fabulous and he’s going to fly. He’ll do so many amazing things. I hope he doesn’t forget me! But he’s amazing – he’ll do great.”

She added: “I’m just sad that I’m not only missing a brother, it’s my [on-screen] twin, there’s two of us. I hope he goes and does what he needs to do.”

Adam announced his decision to leave Coronation Street in April after five years playing Aadi.

He said at the time: “I guess the secret’s out now! As some of you may have heard, I will be leaving Coronation Street for new pastures.

“Over the five years I’ve spent there, I have learned so much about the world and the industry and now feel I am ready to spread my wings a little.

“I have made friends that will last a lifetime and will surely miss such a special family!

“This isn’t a farewell for Aadi, however, more like a see you later! I’m excited to see what the future brings!”

The British Soap Awards 2025 took place at London’s Hackney Empire on Saturday night (31 May).
