Virgin River has kept us captivated from the very beginning.

each season is better than the next! So, it’s definitely a good thing that Virgin River season 5 is airing soon (and season 6 is confirmed to come after). Though, if it wasn’t for Mel deciding that she wanted to start her life over in the cute town of Virgin River, then we wouldn’t have the show that we love to watch in the first place! With that said, it’s worth getting acquainted with the actress who plays her, Alexandra Breckenridge.

Mel Monroe is the charming main character of Virgin River whose life takes a turn when she moves from the big city of Los Angeles to a small town. (Ahem, sounds like someone else we know!) And even though she’s trying to escape her past, which is full of devastating twists, she ends up getting a job as a nurse and falling in love with her new lifestyle—and the bartender named Jack (Martin Henderson).

She’s married with two adorable kids.

Alexandra and husband Casey Hooper met at a Grammys after-party, and were married in 2015, according to Atlanta Magazine. Casey is no stranger to Hollywood himself, as he toured with Katy Perry as her lead guitarist for years. Pretty cool gig!

The couple had their first baby, a boy named Jack, in 2016, and had a daughter Billie shortly after that in 2017. Alexandra is clearly a proud mama, often posting photos of her children and their sweet life on Instagram.

If Alexandra looks familiar, it’s because she’s been in a ton of other movies and shows.

Seriously, so many! She’s been in Life Unexpected, True Blood, American Horror Story, The Walking Dead, Family Guy, and She’s the Man. Her most popular recent role, though, is playing Kevin’s ex-wife Sophie on This Is Us.
