In the gripping episodes, Amy plunged into an icy lake and, despite being rescued, she succumbed to her injuries in hospital.
Natalie Ann Jamieson, who portrayed Amy, appeared on Hits Radio West Yorkshire to discuss her poignant departure from the show. During the interview, host Rosie Madison highlighted a ‘plot hole’ regarding the incident.
Natalie recounted the fateful storyline: “Two limos going out for a lovely night out, sounds brilliant, but then ooh one swerves to miss a lorry and the other one crashes straight into ice. Into the ice goes Amy Wyatt.”
She continued, revealing the build-up to the reveal: “There had been teasers for ages for Emmerdale like going: ‘Who is that hand? ‘, everybody was going: ‘Well, it’s definitely a man’s hand!’ and I was like: ‘Hm, definitely a man’s hand!’… it was me all along!”, reports Leeds Live.

However, Rosie didn’t hold back her critique: “Can I just say when we were watching, we were shouting at the telly because there was a few things that we’ve all been trained that if you ever fell through ice. One… you never walk on ice but two if you ever fell through you take your clothes off, you strip down!”
Natalie responded to the laughter in the studio, saying: “Yep! I was sodden, do you know what though? I just don’t know that they would have let us do that at 7:30pm at night! I did say do you want me to!”
This followed Natalie’s emotional reaction to her character’s exit from Emmerdale on Friday’s episode of Lorraine.
On Thursday night, Amy met a tragic end in hospital after falling into an icy lake due to a limo crash, which also claimed the lives of two other villagers – Suzy and Leyla.
Watching the scene again was a poignant moment for Natalie, as she told host Christine Lampard: “It was very traumatic. We watched it in the hotel because I knew I was coming here this morning. It was a very, very sad episode.”
She went on to say: “It wasn’t to be for Amy, but what a way to go! What an episode, what an exit”, revealing how long she had known about her character’s departure: “I’ve known for a long, long time, but I just think it’s so special.”
Natalie further explained her thoughts on keeping plot twists secret: “So when you don’t have spoilers for things like this, and when it comes as a surprise for the audience, and they get to watch it in real-time, there’s just something magical about it, so I was really keen to try and keep it under wraps.”
