Emmerdale. The beloved face is currently behind bars after accidentally stabbing Samson Dingle
(Sam Hall). We know Matty absolutely didn’t mean to injure Samson, but an evil teenager called
Josh has manipulated Samson into lying in his statement, so it looks as though Matty is a guilty man after all. Because Matty is transgender, life behind bars is incredibly frightening. He knows that if his fellow cellmates discovered his identity, it would make him a target and increase the chance of him being in even more danger. Recently, when Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) and Amy visited, he told them to not even utter the word ‘transgender’ while they’re talking, in case someone hears them. In this new video, on the phone, Matty wishes Amy a happy birthday.
He tries to remain positive while having the conversation, but fails to tell Amy another inmate is pushing him to get off the call. As Matty hangs up, he is confronted by two large men who refuse to get out of the way. Fortunately as he waits, they move, so Matty is able to return to his cell. During the phone call with Amy, Matty told her not to worry about him – but is that because he knows something worrying lies ahead? ‘Moira is extremely terrified and quite desperate because she knows this is not something Matty would ever do, it’s not in his nature,’ Natalie J. Robb insisted. ‘She feels that everybody’s kind of taking Samson’s side in the thing and that’s making her more and more frustrated and obviously that leads her to losing the plot more and trying to think of ways she can help Matty and get him out of the situation as quickly as possible.’
