Emmerdale appeared to hint at Samson Dingle’s exit on Wednesday as Matty Barton was
finally released from prison. Samson was stabbed in huge scenes last month with Matty Barton
to blame for what has happened after the knife he was holding ended up in Samson’s stomach.
Prior to the incident, Samson’s vile new friend Josh had been saying transphobic comments to Matty and flirting with the latter’s wife Amy, despite knowing that they were recently married. Things escalated as Matty warned them to leave – but Josh wasn’t having it. He pushed Samson forward, and onto the knife that Matty was holding. In horrifying scenes, Samson was whisked away in an ambulance – whilst Matty found himself arrested and he’s since been struggling in prison. There is no CCTV footage to back up Matty’s claims while Josh threatened Samson to stick to his side of the story in order to keep themselves out of trouble. Samson seemed very guilty as he pointed out to Josh that Matty is family. However, despite this, Samson has told the police that Matty stabbed him with Cain Dingle, who is Matty’s stepfather, furious as he vowed to get the truth.

Lydia’s actions have left her husband Sam Dingle furious while Matty’s family are grateful for her brave decision. Despite Samson coming clean, Matty was still escorted back to his prison cell from hospital to find transphobic Robbo waiting for him, goading him with violent threats. However, thankfully, later in the episode his prison ordeal was over as he was finally released following a court trial, where it was clear Matty was still struggling from his time inside. Meanwhile, Cain had some hurtful words for Samson, saying his father Sam would be better off with him locked away in prison. Later, Samson attempted to apologise to Matty in the village to which the latter asked why was he still protecting vile Josh.
Samson said he was going to pay for his actions and go down for it to which Matty warned him how awful prison is, saying: “I wouldn’t wish prison on anyone but good luck to you mate. Just keep your head down and mouth shut.” Samson added: “I really am sorry” as he appeared concerned about potentially going to prison and exposing Josh, who threatened certain members of the Dingle family earlier in the episode and showed worrying behaviour. Taking to Twitter, now X, viewers are worried that Samson could be killed off by Josh. One person said: “#Emmerdale I’ve got a funny feeling Samson is gonna get murdered by Josh”, a different account put: “Josh will go for Samson #emmerdale” while another added: “#Emmerdale I’ve got a bad feeling this show is killing Samson off.” It comes as it was reported earlier this year that Samson actor Sam Hall, 20, had been axed from the hit ITV soap after 15 years and while no exit has been confirmed as of yet, Sam, who has remained tight-lipped about his existing storylines, insisted back in May that he is not being killed off.
