Emmerdale star Ryan Hawley has teased a showdown between John and Robert Sugden as the brothers find themselves at loggerheads over Aaron. With Robert recently having returned onto the scene after crashing the wedding, it quickly became clear that he was hoping to pick up where he’d left off with Aaron. Bad news, then, for John.

Robert did his best to try and convince Aaron to jilt John so they could resume their relationship – but his ex was having none of it. Although they did share a kiss, Aaron was resolute in his decision to marry John.

And, as Robert returned to prison (thanks to a missed probation meeting), it seemed as though John had gotten his way. But, knowing conniving Robert as we do, he’s unlikely to end it there.

Speaking to The Mirror and other press, Ryan teased what’s to come for Robert and John – hinting that he may try to expose John’s true colours.

“He loves his family, maybe he wouldn’t admit it but he loves the village and the community,” Ryan said. “He’d want to protect that, and going forward I think he does try to reveal John for who he is.”

But is Robert in danger?

Ryan continued: “Who knows… there’s lots of motive for John to get rid of Robert. He is a huge inconvenience and an obstacle in relation to Aaron. As much as he hates him he is still family, but what does that say about John and his morals and who he is?”

“Would he go as far as to kill his own family? We will have to wait and see.”

John and Robert come face to face in upcoming scenes on the soap, when a horrified John learns that Aaron has been visiting his ex in prison. Paying Robert a visit for himself, he’s left reeling when Robert tells him about their wedding day kiss.

Furious, John tells Robert that he has no idea what he’s capable of. Sensing the monster lurking beneath, Robert becomes convinced that his brother is hiding something.

Back in the village, Aaron and John are shocked to see a newly-released Robert return, announcing that they’ll be seeing a lot more of him over the coming weeks.
