It’s all about the double acts in this week’s EastEnders review. There have been some interesting relationships developing in Albert Square and we need to talk about them! There’s some good ones, some bad ones, some we want more of and some we definitely don’t!
Here’s what we thought of the action in this week’s EastEnders review.

Johnny and Callum
It seemed a bit obvious, shoving Johnny and Callum together – a bit of a plot quirk just to help Felix leave Walford. But actually, we think it might be working. They’ve got good chemistry, they’re funny and they each make the other one more interesting and more likeable.
And them being together is going to cause big problems. Big thumbs up for that!
Also, we loved Linda’s morning-after breakfast routine.
He’s not veggie, Johnny. Snigger.

Harry and Kojo
OMG are Harry and Kojo shaping up to be our fave EastEnders pairing since Shirl and Hev? We think they could be.
They’re so good together – looking out for one another and having each other’s backs. And can we just take a moment to appreciate the photo of them together on Kojo’s wall? LOVE.
Their friendship made a very dull story about the drugs much more interesting. And for that we are grateful.

Elaine and Cindy
We’ve been big Elaine fans since the days of Maria Friedman, and we’re big supporters of Harriet Thorpe, but Elaine has been hard to love recently. She’s been brittle and spiky and making very odd decisions.
This week, though, we saw a glimmer of the old Elaine. And oddly enough, we saw it when she was helping Cindy out at The Albert. Could those two be mates? We really hope so – they’d make a formidable team.
EastEnders review: Cindy and Ian
We know Peter is basically the only child left from the Beale brood after Lucy and Stephen’s deaths and Cindy Jr being AWOL (please bring her back, we’re begging you) but Cindy and Ian are weirdly involved in their son’s love life.
He’s 31 years old, people. Leave him alone.
And, we know Lauren’s done some bad stuff. We get it. But she’s never taken out a hit on her own husband, nor faked her own death, has she? *Hard stare at Cindy*
Peter and Lauren
Speaking of which – Peter and Lauren were breaking up and making up AGAIN this week and we’re totally over it.
Peter is a brilliant chip off his dad’s old block – he’s so like Ian it’s hilarious. But that makes him a very bad choice for Lauren. Who, as Zack said, really deserves better. We cheered when Zack gave Peter a thump. But we really need this on-again-off-again business to stop now. The engagement’s back on and we want it to stay that way.
EastEnders review: Louie and Jimmy
So cute together. Louie’s little declaration that he’s Jimmy’s big brother and he’ll always look after him had us welling up.
Thank goodness they have each other, eh? Because their parents are useless, and as for their grandparents…

EastEnders review: Avani and Nugget
We are confused by Avani and Nugget. Avani is suddenly older than we thought she was – celebrating her 16th birthday. Which surely means that Nugget is even older. And yet both of them are still going to school every day, in uniform, even though Avani should have just done her GCSEs, along with Amy and Denzil. It’s very odd.
Though not as odd as Anna returning to the Square from a mysterious place where they have no phones and no one could tell her everything that had happened while she was away.
Nicola
She’s not a double act, but she doesn’t need to be. We thought it was time to show Nicola Mitchell a bit of love this week. She is one of those rare characters who arrives in Albert Square and suddenly it feels like they’ve always been there.
‘Enders has been crying out for a proper female villain for years – since the days of Annie Palmer! Nicola’s a great addition to Walford and she calls Phil, Captain Caveman. Win/win in our book.
