EastEnders legend’s fate ‘sealed’ as she unexpectedly confesses to murder

The following article contains spoilers from an episode of EastEnders that hasn’t

aired on BBC One yet, but is available to view on BBC iPlayer. Linda Carter (Kellie Bright)

has confessed to the murder of Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) in EastEnders.

Yesterday, Dean’s (Matt Di Angelo) trial fell into a recess as a result of him telling the court that he raped Linda in 2014. Prior to this, Dean started to panic about his future and believed he was days away from being sent to prison for a crime he didn’t commit. With nothing else to lose, Dean stood up and said he believed Linda and the remaining members of The Six were framing him because he attacked Linda, and this is her getting revenge. That evening, The Six gathered at the pub for a chat. Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) knew Dean only confessed to throw the murder trial and then pointed out the police would now go back over every single detail from Christmas Day and Linda’s rape. Johnny (Charlie Suff) told his mum that Kathy’s comments are right, which made her feel anxious.

Poor Linda seemed hopeful that something was finally changing and for the better – that was far from the case. Pondering over what to do, Denise (Diane Parish) and Stacey (Lacey Turner) both pointed out that if they are questioned again, they might not remember exactly what they said the previous time. As Linda listened, she slowly became aware that her friends would be put through even more months of horrific reminders of last Christmas, and all to ensure her truth was never exposed. With the evening ticking by, Linda couldn’t shake her guilt. She desperately wanted a drink to distract and numb her emotions but when she arrived in the barrel store, she completely fell apart. Instead of having a drink, she called Phil (Steve McFadden).

Phil was supportive but his comments to Linda certainly hit hard. He said that she won’t ever get her life back because she’s ‘addicted to alcohol and killed a man’. As far as Phil was concerned, Linda had a choice – stay alive for her children or drink herself to death. With that, Linda made a decision. She headed to the police station and walked straight past Dean, into an interview room and told the detective to turn the recorder on. ‘It was me, I did it, I killed Keanu Taylor’. Is this really the end for Linda?
