And it’s likely Ricky had some words of advice for Jamie ahead of his dancefloor debut, as Ricky was a contestant on the seventh series of the BBC ballroom show in 2009, shortly after his exit from Albert Square.

Ricky made his first EastEnders appearance as Lynne Slater’s (Elaine Lordan) other-half when the Slater family were first introduced in 2000.

During his nine years in Walford, Gary was involved in numerous comedy storylines after forming an on-screen partnership with Minty Peterson (Cliff Parisi).

The character left the Square with then-girlfriend Dawn Swann (Kara Tointon) and her daughter Summer.

While on the BBC soap, Ricky also married co-star Hannah Waterman – better known as Laura Beale – in 2006, but they separated in 2010.

Since leaving EastEnders, Ricky has also appeared on Celebrity Coach Trip and filmed guest roles in various TV movies and mini-series.
