EastEnders fans ‘work out’ Reiss Colwell’s true identity as he cons Sharon Watts

EastEnders fans are convinced Reiss Colwell is a complete fake after his latest money

scam. The accountant, played by Jonny Freeman, arrived in Albert Square in 2022

as a distant relative of Dot Cotton (June Brown) following her death. Reiss wasted no time in getting romantically involved with Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy), but he was hiding a huge secret. It soon transpired that Reiss was a married man and his wife Debbie was in a coma receiving care in a home following a stroke. As Reiss and Sonia’s relationship progressed, he started stealing money from Debbie to fund their IVF treatment and has since drained her bank accounts. The same day, Sonia found out she was pregnant as money worries instantly kicked in. In an attempt to get some quick cash, Reiss told Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) that her business owed a tax bill of over £13k. Promoted Stories Sharon has been blindsided by Reiss’ deceit and arranged to transfer the money into the account. But on Tuesday (July 23), Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) clocked onto the book-keeper’s dodgy behaviour and questioned Reiss’ financial demands. After Reiss stole money from Debbie and Sharon, some EastEnders fans are convinced he isn’t who he says he is – and is just a con man. Taking to Reddit, one viewer wrote: “Another theory they where discussing on the podcast is that Reiss has another secret family on the side to be revealed on Christmas Day.” A second stated: “Would be interesting if when Debbie woke up she says yes she is married to Reiss, but it’s not the Reiss we know he has stolen his identify.” A third chimed in: “What if they aren’t even married and Debbie was actually one of his clients he’d been stealing from?” Powered by “He’s actually a ruthless, fearless and charismatic gangster whose putting on a fake personality to appear less intimidating and he’s playing the long game as he prepares to take down Phil”, added another. EastEnders airs Monday – Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC1 and iPlayer.
