Eastenders fans have uncovered the ‘’secret meaning’ behind a quote Kat Slater made on her wedding day, but did she marry Alfie Moon?

Spoilers are ahead as Friday’s episode (June 13) episode released a day early on the BBC iPlayer and confirmed whether the beloved couple decided to get married

Alfie Moon and Kat Slater were ready to walk down the aisle just one week after he proposed in one of the shortest soap engagements of all time.

Married on two occasions since meeting back in 2002, the fan favourite couple have experienced lots of highs and lows over the years.

Without even mentioning their spin-off show, they’ve endured multiple cheating scandals, their baby being swapped and Alfie’s cancer battle.

Kat called the wedding off earlier in the week, fed up with Alfie not being able to recapture the magic of their previous wedding days, including their one on Christmas Day in 2003.

Alfie failed to talk to their son Tommy about the adult content they found on the family’s laptop, which Kat initially blamed him for.

On top of this, one of the limos from their new business was stolen and their replacement bus broke down before bringing them to the wedding venue. Not to mention one of their younger kids got sick on Kat’s wedding shoes after Alfie gave him sugary cereal.

While she’s still furious with Kat for working with her ex Harvey Monroe, Jean Slater told Kat that she needs to put herself first for a change and trust Alfie.

In a surprisingly similar conversation, Kat’s other former husband Phil Mitchell told Alfie not to let go of Kat as he helped fix the bus.

Finding each other like they always do, Kat and Alfie got married on the top deck of the bus, with Mo Harris serving as their celebrant.

The episode marked the end of the Chris Clenshaw era, with Ben Wadey’s episodes as EastEnders new Executive Producer to air next week.

The episode concluded with Kat and Alfie sitting alone on top of the bus as they reflected on everything they’ve been through.

“What a mad day,” Kat said.

Alfie responded: “Yeah, well it’s been a mad few years hasn’t it?”

“I’m knackered. I wouldn’t change anything though. Not all them rows, the misunderstandings… that’s what got us here,” she said as they stared at the stars together.

Kat’s reply to Alfie’s question in the closing moments of the episode, had some fans on X convinced that it was a final message from departing EastEnders Excetuive producer Chris Clenshaw.

Following three years working on the soap, the episode was Clenshaw’s final one as EastEnders boss, with the Ben Wadey era beginning on Monday (June 16).

@startturntable said: “This is deffo a message from Chris Clenshaw as it’s his final episode under executive producer #eastenders.” @Noodlevision008 replied: “That makes sense.”

@trevorsbrady wrote: “I’m an absolute emotional wreck rn.Ythe whole episode was beautiful but that last scene… it was gorgeous. I think it’s so full circle Chris Clenshaw joined the show being a massive kalfie fan and his last scene was of them married watching the moon.”

@E20AfterDark commented: “And so this era comes to an end. Every single viewer voted award at the BSAs. An NTA. A BAFTA. And a return to the character led #EastEnders that is full of history, tragedy, joy and fun that only the fans understand. @chris_clenshaw – thank you for a truly golden era.”

Wrapping up his time as the show’s boss in March, Chris is best known for bringing the thrilling Six storyline to life and killing off Martin Fowler in the Queen Vic explosion.
