Emmerdale‘s April Windsor leaves her family worried next week as she refuses to acknowledge any grief for her daughter.
The struggling teenager is being supported by her dad Marlon and stepmum Rhona following her traumatic time living on the streets.
April ran away from home at Christmas after facing various family troubles, including a heated row with Marlon which proved to be the final straw.
A special flashback episode this week revealed that April was pregnant when she left the village. After several weeks sleeping rough, April tragically suffered a stillbirth in a public toilet.
Friday’s episode saw April speak to Ross Barton about the tragedy, insisting that she never wanted the baby. She has told Ross and Marlon that the father was a random lad she met at a party last year.
In follow-on scenes next week, Marlon and Rhona fear they’re not properly getting through to April.
The concerned couple ask family member Lydia Dingle to step in, aware that she had a similar experience when she was 15.
Agreeing to help, Lydia puts her own pain aside and opens up to April about the trauma she faced at the time.
Once April is back at home, Marlon and Rhona suggest that they should all visit her daughter in the chapel of rest.
April agrees but becomes overwhelmed and rushes off when she sees the small coffin. Marlon stays and says some emotional parting words to his granddaughter.
Later, Marlon and Rhona make another attempt to get through to April, but they’re troubled by how indifferent she seems after their emotional day.
Is April covering her true feelings – and will she ever confide in Marlon and Rhona like she has done with Ross?
