Emmerdale fans have slammed the soap for wasting ‘great potential’ as Gail Loman prepares to exit the soap after six years.
Earlier this year it was reported that Gail Loman would be leaving the soap, with Rachael Gill-Davis bowing out of the role.
And, now, her exit storyline looks set to kick off next week. But, fans aren’t happy about it.

Gail Loman’s upcoming departure
Being introduced into the soap as a friend of Ryan’s, it wasn’t long before the pair got into a relationship after many years apart.
It was then revealed that Gail and Ryan had a son called Oscar who had been adopted by a woman called Sophie.
Oscar needed an urgent bone marrow transplant, with Gail being contacted to see if she was a match. Ryan then found out he had a son.
Both biological parents wanted to get to know Oscar, and Oscar did too despite Sophie’s annoyance. But, Oscar then vanished from the soap as if he had never existed. And, he wasn’t mentioned again.
Since then, Gail is mainly found in the Woolpack, putting in some graft. She’s not seen much, and neither is Ryan.
And now, spoilers for next week reveal that Gail breaks up with Ryan. This comes after taking a fun relationship quiz and realising Ryan doesn’t know her as well as she thought. Oh, Ryan!

Emmerdale fans disappointed over Gail exit news
With Gail being in the soap for six years yet only really having one storyline (that was never actually wrapped up), fans have become disappointed over her exit news.
To be fair, she’s a fun character who provides us with a great laugh on the odd occasion she’s actually on screen. And, fans wanted more of that. They think her exit is unfair, and that the character could have been used in a better way over the years.
One fan commented: “Do people really care? Because the show has made her nonexistent in the show for anyone to remember that she’s there like it was a wasted potential and wasted SL.”
Another fan added: “Gail and Ella. Both great characters with such great potential utterly wasted. Meanwhile John, the most boring, serial killer in the history of soaps, is still there. Same goes for ditzy, desperado, Dawn. Why didn’t they get rid of her instead of Gail and Ella?”
A third fan fumed: “I like Gail. It’s a shame it’s taken her exit for her to get a story.”
A fourth person finished: “They woefully underused Gail in the last couple of years so it’s no wonder the actress is leaving. Good luck to her.”
