Coronation Street star Jude Riordan shared his delight at being back on the Cobbles as he confirmed his future on the long-running show after some time away.
The young actor is best known for playing Sam Blakeman in the ITV soap. Jude first appeared as the new character first appeared in Weatherfield in 2020 and is the son of Nick Tilsley and the late Natasha Blakeman.
He didn’t meet his father until he was nine years old, as Natasha and Nick had split up before Natasha knew she was pregnant. It was during a chance encounter at Weatherfield General in 2020 which resulted in Nick finding out that he had a son.
But just a year later, Nick became Sam’s sole parent after Natasha was tragically shot dead by gangster Harvey Gaskell in 2021 in a case of mistaken identity.
Sam has since created a new life in Weatherfield with Nick and the rest of the Platt family and in a new social media post, Jude revealed he’s back filming.
Taking to Instagram platform Threads, the teenager wrote: “First day back at Corrie a long while! GREAT DAY. Sunshine on those cobbles hits the spot.”

It comes a couple of weeks after Jude, 13, took to Instagram and shared on his profile, which is managed by his parents, that he’d had a new haircut. But the update seemingly took some by surprise as Jude later shared a follow-up post.
As he shared the same post with a new caption, the young soap star also addressed Sam’s absence on screen. “Lots of messages saying how old I look and how old am I now,” he began.
The teen soap star then added: “I know Sam has been missing offscreen for about 34 years but I will be 14 in a few weeks.”
But Jude hasn’t been hiding away and has been seen enjoying some time out with his Corrie co-stars. Jude was last seen earlier this month (April) enjoying a night out with a number of his Corrie castmates. The teen headed to Manchester’s Palace Theatre to watch Mary Poppins.
He shared pictures from inside the auditorium as he sat alongside Bella Flanagan (Hope Stape), Bobby Bradshaw (Jake Windass) and William Flanagan (Joseph Brown), while Bernie Winter star Jane Hazlegrove took the selfie with her young co-stars.

Alongside the post, Jude wrote: “What. A. Show. If you’re lucky enough to be going to watch @marypoppinsmusical you are in for a feast for your eyes. AMAZING. Cast, production, set, music all 5*.
“And even better when I’m with the Corrie lot! Some of my favs right here. Thanks for the invite @palaceandopera #corriekids #marypoppins #manchester #manchesterfun #palaceandoperahousemanchester #musicaltheatre.”
