In Emmerdale John Sugden appears to be struggling with hero complex – which is a real thing. But many viewers think there is already someone in the village working to take him down.
It was revealed to viewers that John was indeed responsible for Nate’s death, but it was an accident. After the barn fire, John tried to save Nate’s life by giving him an injection. And in doing so, Nate had a reaction and died.
Away from that, John has also drugged Chas and caused Jacob to go into anaphylactic shock – just so he could be the one to save them. But could there already be someone working against him?

Does John have hero complex in Emmerdale?
When John misdiagnosed Kerry, Liam gave him a warning, which made him very very angry. And when Liam saw that side of John – he was shocked. But after saving Jacob, he decided to put the past in the past. Or has he?
Liam has missed important signs before when it comes to murders. He didn’t realise Meena was the one to kill his daughter for quite some time. And it also took him a while before he heard the truth about Ella’s past.
So, maybe Dr Cavanagh isn’t going to be repeating mistakes. And instead, he could actually be catching on to what John has been doing.
Maybe he won’t necessarily know everything – immediately assuming he killed Nate when Nate is believed to be in Shetland would be a stretch. But the timing of John saving Jacob could definitely look a bit suspicious. He just so happened to be the one to save his life a day after getting fired?
Then if Liam has realised that, he may just start to think about Chas’ drugging, and how yet again, John was the one to save her.
And spoilers for next week show Liam is attacked. While many suspect that John is once again behind it, a new theory suggests that may not be the case.

Who attacks Liam?
Next week, Mackenzie is shocked when he finds Liam lying on the street having been attacked. Chas and Aaron immediately rush out to see if he is okay – but nobody knows who was responsible.
While they all may assume Ella, and viewers think John, could it be that Liam actually faked the whole thing?
One fan predicted: “I’m going to suggest that Liam isn’t going to be injured. But he is going to set up a scene of needing to be rescued to see if John comes. Maybe he is already suspicious of his hero symptoms and is on his radar of needing to be watched.”
Another fan backed it up, adding: “Mackenzie finds Liam ‘attacked’ – but is all as it actually seems?”
Liam is a doctor, so he would know the signs of hero complex. And perhaps the more time he spends near John, the more hints he is picking up on.
And with some fans thinking that the truth about John will come out next month at his and Aaron’s wedding – could Liam be onto something?
