Emmerdale’s Joe Tate and Noah Dingle will keep a secret from their family as they attempt to patch up their fraught relationship.
Joe has been trying to win back his half-brother’s trust since his return to the village. Noah is still furious with Joe after he faked his own death when he left the village back in 2018.
In tonight’s (January 16) hour-long episode, Joe defied Ross Barton’s orders to stay away from Noah.
Joe caused a power cut, knowing that Noah, who works as an electrician, would come to fix it.
He rang his half-brother, pleading with him not to hang up.
“I need your professional expertise,” Joe said.
Noah showed up at Home Farm with his toolbox and was amused to learn Joe had no idea where the house’s fuse box was.
He agreed to help, with the two half-siblings clearing the air about Joe’s recent distant behaviour.
“I just wanted you to know why I went cold the other day,” Joe explained to Noah, telling him about Ross’s threats.
Frustrated about his mum Charity meddling, Noah insisted he and Joe didn’t “need their permission” to hang out.
“Meet in secret?” Joe asked him. “I’m game if you are.”
The two then toasted with a cup of tea, smiling to each other.
To keep up the pretence with Ross and Charity, Joe and Noah even faked an argument at the cafe later on. The two pretended to quarrel about the payment for the job at Home Farm.
Charity, who was there with Noah, was impressed with her son standing his ground, though she couldn’t see him and Joe exchanging knowing looks.
