Diego’s Canceled Wedding Exposes Gabriela’s Real Problem That Has Been Haunting Her Since Fire Country Season 1

Although Gabriela’s decision not to go through with the wedding

was at the heart of Fire Country season 3’s premiere, how it impacted others,

damaging another one of her key relationships was at the center of Fire Country

season 3, episode 2. Fire Country season 3’s premiere marked the moment Gabriela finally came clear with both Bode and Diego, admitting to the former how feelings for him were still there and to the latter how she didn’t want to marry him anymore because of her confused feelings. The ordeal obviously greatly impacted Diego, but its consequences also affected someone else.Gabriela and Diego’s plan to marry made Manny ecstatic, as he saw that as Gabriela finally settling down in the way he always hoped she would. Ever since Fire Country season 1, Manny was against Gabriela following in his steps, preferring she returned to diving instead of training to become a firefighter. While he eventually accepted her choice, he was only ever delighted for her when he learned about her upcoming marriage to Diego, making Gabriela’s decision to break it off difficult to accept for Manny, even more so as he wasn’t there when she couldn’t go through with it.Manny and Gabriela’s expectations that the other should have apologized contributed to blowing the fight out of proportion in Fire Country season 3, but season 1 already highlighted their inability to communicate. Indeed, Manny’s feelings of shame after he had reprised gambling in season 1 brought him to work two jobs to try and pay his debts and hide the truth from Gabriela. Manny was quicker to accept Vince’s help in Fire Country season 1 than admitting his problem to Gabriela, who judged him for his taking two jobs, not seeing Manny’s struggle after he purportedly hid it from her.
