Heartbroken fans of Emmerdale have branded last night’s revelations a step too far
– following confirmation of Ruby Fox-Miligan‘s worst fears. As a DNA test revealed
that Anthony is indeed Steph’s biological father, Ruby was left reeling.
To make matters worse, it was Caleb who revealed the news, finding the results letter as he poked around in Ruby’s bag. She’d already decided not to open the letter, but the cat was out of the bag now.
And, assuming that she’d betrayed him, Caleb kicked her out, seemingly ending their marriage for good. Ruby was double-devastated, first as her worst fears came true, and then by the apparent collapse of her marriage.

Emmerdale fans slam ‘rank’ Ruby DNA reveal
In the wake of last night’s bombshell (airing Wednesday, January 15), fans took to social media to share their thoughts. And many agreed that it was a simply too much.
“I’m really going to need there to be a ‘mix up’ with the test results, because this is rank. The story overall is good, but they could have told it without the whole mother/sister angle. Aside from shock value and drawing this out for months, what will it achieve? It’s just a big ick,” wrote one fan on Reddit.
“Bloody well said, a sick story, far too much for what is supposed to be light entertainment,” agreed another disgusted viewer.
“I can’t believe that the writers chose to make Anthony Steph’s biological father, instead of Caleb. Making them mother and daughter, as well as half-sisters, is just disgusting,” said a third.
“I hate it. I can cope with the story overall, but this just feels too much, and now we’re going to be stuck dragging it out for months,” another wrote.
Has Emmerdale gone too far?
