Emmerdale fans have figured out the fate of John Sugden as they say he’ll “have to be killed off” after his true colours have been exposed in recent weeks.
John Sugden has been very busy in the village since he showed up last year. While everything seemed to start off so innocently as he struck up a relationship with Aaron Dingle and reunited with half-sister Victoria Sugden, the cracks have started to show.

A series of flashbacks revealed that John’s mysterious character had more layers than viewers first imagined. He appears to have some sort of “hero complex” that involves him putting people in danger in order to then save them – and get all the credit, of course.

Due to this, we’ve watched as he swapped the stickers on the takeaway coffee drinks, making Jacob drink the one with almond milk and go into anaphylactic shock.
Of course, John was there to save him – as he also conveniently hid Jacob’s AAPI pen from his rucksack moments prior to his masterplan. This was to prove himself to Liam after he missed Kerry’s diagnosis and received a formal warning.
He also swapped out Chas’ pills and let Ella take the blame, threw the brick through the pub window and cancelled Liam and Chas’ wedding.

One of the most serious flashbacks, however, saw Nate Robinson’s final moments as John accidentally killed him while trying to “save” him during the barn fire. Nate “left” the village last year for a new job in Shetland, however, villagers are starting to grow suspicious as they haven’t heard from him since.
Victoria exposed John after finding out from his ex-Army friend, Connor, that Aidan – the man lying in the hospital bed who John told everyone was dead – is John’s fiancé.

Unfortunately for John, Mackenzie also found out and immediately told an outraged Aaron before arguing with John and telling him to get in his van and “never come back”.
With John’s storylines seemingly coming to a head, some fans think there’s only one way out for the tragic villain – and that would be for him to be “killed off”.
On a Reddit thread for Emmerdale, u/Belfast_Escapee wrote: “The show is going to have to kill John off, presumably after he kills someone else to annihilate any viewer empathy. Not only is he a murderer and likely a psychopath… Dramatically speaking how absurd would it be if poor Aaron had TWO Sugden lover brothers in prison for murder?!”

Robert Sugden was Aaron’s former husband who was arrested after killing Lee Posner due to defending his sister from a horrific assault.
Adding to this train of thought on a Facebook fan page, one viewer theorised: “They’ll kill John off as it can’t continue for much longer”, as another fan replied: “Yeah, it’ll be a tragic death at least, seems to be the angle for him.”
