Coronation Street star cast in brand new thriller with Game of Thrones legend

A Coronation Street star is set to return to screens in a gripping new thriller.

Paramount Plus has announced a new drama series based on Hollie Overton’s 2017 novel Baby Doll, which revolves around a harrowing abduction story. The novel tells the tale of twin sisters whose lives are forever changed by a traumatic event.

Paramount Plus has confirmed the commission of the series, starring Alfie Allen, known for his Game of Thrones role, as Rick, alongside Jill Halfpenny, known for her roles in The Feud, EastEnders, and Coronation Street, who will play Eve. Tallulah and Delphi Evans will also join the cast as twins Lily and Abby.

The synopsis reads: “Based on the novel by Hollie Overton, BABY DOLL (w/t) follows the story of twin sisters Lily and Abby, whose lives are shattered when Lily is abducted from their quiet rural English town by beloved local teacher Rick Hansen. After years of abuse in captivity, Lily escapes – only to discover that freedom brings its own challenges.

Fans will also see Vikash Bhai (Limbo), Niamh Walsh (Smother, Jamestown), Levi Brown (This Town), Victoria Ekanoye (Coronation Street), Holly Atkins (Mobland) and Kiran Krishnakumar (What it Feels Like For a Girl) joining the cast.

In an exciting Instagram post, Paramount Plus UK announced: “There’s a new UK thriller coming to Paramount+ UK and Ireland!”.

“Based on the novel by Hollie Overton, Baby Doll (working title) follows the story of twin sisters Lily and Abby, whose lives are shattered when Lily is abducted from their quiet, rural English town by beloved local teacher Rick Hansen. The series will star Alfie Allen as Rick, Jill Halfpenny as the twins’ mother Eve, and Tallulah and Delphi Evans as Lily and Abby.”

Victoria Ekanoye shared her anticipation with the comment: “Epic team on this! Can’t wait for you all to see it.”

The upcoming series has already sparked eagerness among fans, with one saying: “So epic!!!” Another added: “Ooh can’t wait to watch this.”

A third wrote: “Do we have a date of release?”.

A fourth penned: “Excited for this!!!” while another teased: “Alfie doesn’t get a break of being the bad guy in stuff does he?”.
