Coronation Street’s Joe Layton, known for his role as Mick Michaelis, could potentially be making a move to a competing soap.
Joe first graced the screen earlier this year as the menacing Mick, alongside his wife Lou (Farrel Hegarty). Quickly earning the title of “nightmare neighbours,” the duo wasted no time in stirring up trouble.
In May, after causing quite a stir, Mick shockingly murdered soap icon Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) in a surprise drunken assault. It was also revealed that Mick frequently abused Lou.
Following Craig’s demise, Mick found himself behind bars. However, this week saw a dramatic twist when he managed to escape.

In his quest to find his children, Mick stabbed Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) before being apprehended once again and returned to prison, reports Leicestershire Live.

Now, with Mick’s departure imminent, it appears actor Joe might be heading for a stint on a rival soap. According to exclusive odds provided by Betway, the bookies have placed Joe at 3/1 odds to join another soap: EastEnders.
Joe is also pegged at 5/1 odds to secure a role on Channel 4’s Hollyoaks. In terms of reality shows, an I’m A Celeb appearance has odds of 8/1, followed by Strictly Come Dancing at 10/1 odds.

The actor is set to leave the cobbles
However, it’s not just television roles that could be in store for Joe. The bookies speculate he could land a part in a Hollywood franchise.
Currently, Joe stands at odds of 16/1 to feature in a Marvel film, and even odds of 50/1 to become the next James Bond.
Mike Reading, spokesperson at Betway said: “After playing brutal villain Mick Michaelis on Coronation Street, Joe Layton is now a 3/1 shot to bring his bad-boy energy to EastEnders.

“Having made headlines for his character’s violent past and dramatic prison escape, Layton looks ready-made for the gritty world of Albert Square – pub bust-ups, family feuds, and a shady market hustle would suit him down to the ground!”.
“Other potential next moves include jetting out to the jungle for I’m a Celeb (8/1), joining Strictly (10/1), or even a Marvel comeback (16/1) after previously starring in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but it’s East London where punters think he’s most likely to land next.”
