Spoilers for the ITV soap have hinted that Carla will be hiding something in upcoming scenes

Coronation Street fans have wondered whether a ‘secret child’ twist could be on the cards in an upcoming storyline for Carla Connor and Lisa Swain.

Fans of the ITV soap were delighted last last year when their will they, won’t they romance became official and they finally gave in for their feelings for another.

But things have been far from easy for the new couple. After welcoming in the New Year together, things took a worrying turn when Carla fell ill and was rushed to hospital, where she was told she had had sepsis and needed a kidney transplant.

Her health crisis saw the return of her jailbird brother, Rob Donovan, after being approached about being a donor by his son, Bobby Crawford and soon, the convicted killer was back in her life – and he had an ulterior motive.

Rob was planning to do a runner from the hospital, before even going through with the transplant, as it became clear he was in a relationship with his prison guard.

But Lisa worked out what was going on and Rob ended up going through with the op. Despite his condition, Rob did end up making his escape, but not before putting Lisa and Carla through it first.

Rob later returned to Weatherfield, where a dramatic siege unfolded, with Rob planning on taking his sister down with him. However, Lisa came to her rescue, only for her teenage daughter, Betsy, to get accidentally shot in the process.

Fast forward, and Carla and Lisa have tried to move on and emerge stronger than ever. But as fans know, it was only a matter of weeks ago that Carla turned down Lisa’s ‘marry me’ request as it came amid her shock and upset at the death of her friend and policing colleague, Craig Tinker.

Carla turned her down, making it clear she wanted a marriage proposal to come from love, and not grief. It wasn’t too long after that though that the lovebirds made a huge decision about their future, decided they should move out of the flat and into their own home together.

While whether they’ll officially become the proud owners of No.6 Coronation Street, following Yasmeen Nazir’s exit earlier this year, still to be confirmed, it seems there could be more to come for the couple as it’s been teased that Carla could be hiding something.

New spoilers for upcoming Corrie scenes have revealed that having recently had her first therapy session, Carla reassures Lisa that after a few more therapy sessions, she’ll be back on top form. But as fans may expect following her first chat with the therapist, Lisa remains sceptical.

Meanwhile, over at Underworld, Michael borrows Carla’s laptop at work and is intrigued by what he sees on her screen. While no more information is given as to what he could have seen, Corrie fans have been sharing their theories online, and they’re hoping for a positive outcome.

But some of also wondering what spanner could possibly be thrown in the works. @TVMusings22 said: “Knew it would be Carla, Are we stepping into secret child era yet??? #Corrie.”

@topcac replied: “I don’t hate it…” But @EmmaPerry22 commented: “No I don’t think she’s got a secret child. Could be she’s investigating Becky.”

Others, however, think it will somehow link to the pending house move or the sale of the Rovers Return. @swarlaluvrxxxx shared: “Anyone else think what is found on Carla’s laptop could be her selling part of the factory to get the house… #swarla.”

@AlisonSelw60139 posted: “It must be something to do with pub I’m guessing. She wouldn’t sell her factory, she loves that factory.” @Bonnie19998796 echoed: “It would have to be the pub. Also Carla probably already paid off everything. She probably got to hustling again and took on extra orders to fill.” @Nemo1312360031 added: “I think she’s bought the house but is surprising Lisa with it.”
