Coronation Street fans think they have confirmed the shock return of a former villain as some of Weatherfield’s young residents will be embroiled in drug-fuelled party drama.

It’s been revealed that next week, Aadi Alahan is coerced into throwing the midsummer party when Bernie Winter calls out the youngsters for being boring.

But there is set to be nothing boring about this bash but things don’t go quite to plan as when things take a sinister turn, the friends wish they could forget the night ever happened as a dramatic sequence of events rock the cobbles.

Betsy Swain, Brody Michaelis, Dylan Wilson and Lauren Bolton are among those heading to the bash and when Brody shows Dylan a bottle of LSD telling him he intends to make some money, Dylan’s concerned.

There also romantic tension between Aadi and Amy Barlow, but a misunderstanding leaves Aadi hurt. Aadi then kicks Brody out of the party after spotting him with LSD, but Brody doesn’t go without a fight.

With Brody eventually gone, Aadi divides the LSD into three cups, Summer Spellman and Nina Lucas knock back theirs but Aadi is distracted by an incident upstairs.

When Aadi returns, he realises someone accidentally took it, leading to a dramatic turn of events… Still high on LSD, Nina and Summer let themselves into the darkened café. When they hear the sound of sirens, they cling to each other, terrified. What’s happened?

Later, Summer and Nina retrace their steps from the night before. Bernie also apologises to Aadi and his sister Asha for Brody’s behaviour, hoping he didn’t ruin the party.

Meanwhile, someone’s condition deteriorates after accidentally and unknowingly taking LSD. Kit tells Aadi that there’s been a report of drugs at the party and he’ll need to make a statement.

Elsewhere, Summer and Nina discuss the incident that they witnessed the night of the party and agree that they have no choice but to keep schtum.

But Corrie fans have become convinced that the involvement of LSD in the storyline means a return for Joel Deering, who was exposed as a groomer of young girls, including Lauren, who he forced to flee from Weatherfield and was presumed dead.

However, just as ex-fiancée Dee-Dee Bailey and DS Lisa Swain were finally getting somewhere, it was no surprise when Joel disappeared. But when his body was found following an apparent suicide, the police soon discovered that someone had in fact murdered Joel.

It was confirmed he’d been killed with a heavy weapon before entering the water and several Weatherfield residents were put in the frame – Dee-Dee, her father Ed, her uncle Ronnie, Mason Radcliffe, Lisa, Carla Connor, DC Kit Green and finally Max Turner and Lauren Bolton.

It was then revealed that in an eventful night for Joel, after Ronnie and Ed went after him with a crowbar, he was attacked by scorned ex Dee-Dee, threatened by Kit and pushed into the river by Max. But not before Lauren had delivered the killer blow amidst their train track confrontation.

Pondering a ghostly return for Joel, @TheConnorSwains said: “Lisa & Carla find a surprisingly sensible Betsy. Lauren accidentally drops LSD. She ends up on the factory roof, followed by Brody She hallucinates Brody as Joel. Nina & Summer witness them fight/him assault her. Eventually retrace their steps & find her. #Swarla #Corrie.”

@swarlascrisps commented: “I definitely feel like Lauren is going to hallucinate Joel during this drug-induced incident #corrie.” @Beckixsmith1 wrote: “So lauren does hallucinate joel #Corrie,” alongside a grab from the trailer for the scenes in which Lauren declares: “You’re a dead man!” @NicolaHynes1 added: “… I’m guessing Lauren is going to hallucinate Joel.”
