Coronation Street fans have ‘rumbled’ Dee-Dee Bailey’s shock plan for baby Laila and it doesn’t end well.
Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown) has been a firm favourite on the soap since her debut in 2022. And it’s fair to say she has played a part in several big storylines.
Last year, she was engaged to solicitor Joel Deering (Calum Lill) – who was killed off in September, after his sick crimes came to light. Despite Joel being murdered, Dee-Dee’s nightmare didn’t end there as she found out she was pregnant with his child.
Adamant she didn’t want anything to do with it, Dee-Dee planned to give the baby away to her brother James (Jason Callender) and his partner Danny to adopt.
And in March, Dee-Dee gave birth to baby Laila after a horrific birth experience that saw her lose a lot of blood and have a hysterectomy.
Dee-Dee struggled at first and was torn on whether or not she wanted to keep Laila. However, she decided to let James take the baby back to America with him.
Last month though, James returned to the cobbles after splitting up with Danny. And in recent scenes, it’s been clear Dee-Dee has been growing close to the little girl she gave up.
What’s more, in Wednesday’s episode (July 10) she went behind James’ back to have Laila christened – despite his own religious beliefs.
After the successful ceremony, Dee-Dee celebrated in the bistro with vicar Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) and Laila’s godparents Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) and Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson).
However, Adam ended up texting James to come and celebrate, not knowing he had no clue about the christening. James then turned up and was livid, insisting he would not let her be alone with Laila again.
But now, fans can’t help but think a heartbreaking twist is in store for Dee-Dee. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one person said: “Who else thinks Dee-Dee is going to kidnap Laila?”
Someone else agreed: “I thought that as well.” A third chimed in: “Yes I can’t see how it’s going to end well with them such a shame.” Another also fumed: “I really hope they don’t do that Dee-Dee!”
