Coronation Street confirms Gary Windass’s fate as attacker is revealed in ITVX edition

The truth about what happened to Gary Windass (Mikey North) will be confirmed in the latest edition of Coronation Street (Thursday 10th July 2025).

The mystery began when Gary rejected a kiss from Lou Michaelis (Farrel Hegarty) and she tried to blackmail him, shortly after secretly using his phone to send herself a suggestive text.

Lou was later seen with Gary’s phone in her possession.

Spooked and still at odds with wife Maria (Samia Longchambon), who had warned him that Lou couldn’t be trusted, Gary went to visit his mum Anna (Debbie Rush) and clear his head.

But when Gary failed to return home, and appeared to text Maria claiming that he was now staying at a friend’s place, she grew suspicious.

Troubled that devoted dad Gary had not been in contact for her son Liam’s (Charlie Wrenshall) birthday, Maria began trying to track him down – while viewers learned he was in a coma.

As the drama continues, Maria will report Gary missing at the police station, and Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) gets word of an unidentified coma patient at the hospital.

But Kit later has to tell Maria that the patient isn’t Gary, although he promises to find him.

When Maria tells Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) that Gary hasn’t made any bank transactions since 23rd June, Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) overhears and tells Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) that this coincides with the night they took drugs.

Summer insists there were no reports of an assault, but we now know that Gary was attacked that very same evening.

Meanwhile, Gary remains unconscious, and a nurse tells a visiting woman that ‘Chesney’ is improving.

But who is the woman by Gary’s bedside, and why is she pretending he is someone else?

You can tune in to the episode now on ITVX or on ITV at the later time of 9pm, where all will be revealed in a series of flashbacks.

Gary’s fate will then be made clear after weeks of uncertainty, but will he survive?

It won’t be long before Maria is made aware of Gary’s situation, and actress Longchambon has shared that her alter ego “doesn’t stop for a second to think who actually attacked him and put him in a coma.

“She’s aware Gary has got a lot of enemies from over the years who could have potentially wanted to take revenge on him.”
