A major Coronation Street character was arrested in tonight’s episode as her crimes finally came back to bite her.

Things got out of hand for Lou Michaelis (Farrel Hegarty) several weeks ago when her attempt to blackmail Gary Windass (Mikey North) backfired.

When Gary threatened to report her to the police, Lou freaked out at the possibility of losing her kids and knocked Gary out with a metal bar.

Since then, she has continued to weave a web of lies, making out to the hospital staff that Gary was Chesney Brown (Sam Aston), and that she was his wife.

In tonight’s episode, the truth was finally revealed when Gary woke up from his coma and contacted wife Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon), and together they pieced together what had really happened.

With the description of Gary’s so-called wife matching Lou, and her phone number matching the one given to the hospital, Maria was sure she was the culprit.

However, with Gary awake, Lou already knew she needed to cover her tracks.

First on her agenda was to ditch Gary’s bank card, which she slipped into Summer Spellman’s (Harriet Bibby) bag, knowing that she and Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) had stumbled across injured Gary on the night of his attack.

Next, she called the police with an anonymous tip, claiming to have witnessed Summer and Nina attacking Gary.

With Maria suspicious that Lou was to blame, she had to work hard to convince her that she wasn’t involved.

It seemed as though Lou was set to get away with it, until she let slip the name of the shop Gary’s bank card had been used in – something only the culprit would know.

With that, Maria had all the evidence she needed against Lou, and it wasn’t long before she was being hauled into the police station for the attack on Gary.

Is she set to face her comeuppance, or will she get away with what she’s done?
