5EastEnders airs heartbreaking Jean Slater outcome in early iPlayer release

EastEnders spoilers follow for Thursday’s episode (15 May), which is available to watch now on streaming service BBC iPlayer and hasn’t yet aired on TV.

EastEnders has confirmed the future of Jean Slater and Harvey Monroe’s relationship, as she discovers her partner’s secret affair.

Kathy had signed over The Albert to Cindy, to stop her exposing her affair with Harvey – but Cindy ended up playing her footage of the pair kissing in The Vic anyway.

Walford reeled from this bombshell in today’s episode, as Jean realised that she had been betrayed by her partner and her friend.

All hell broke loose between Kathy and Cindy in The Vic, and Cindy vowed to go to the police about her attack – but the Knights and the Beales made it clear that no one would corroborate her story.

Meanwhile, Jean went home alone and was consoled by Freddie. Harvey faced the wrath of Kat and Alfie when he arrived at the house, but Jean agreed to hear him out.

Jean discovered the details about the affair, as Harvey explained that he turned to Kathy because he felt shut out after Martin’s death.

Reminded of her late husband Brian’s secret family, Jean felt stupid for proposing to Harvey that week, but raged at him for trying to put the blame on her bipolar disorder for not telling her the truth.

As Jean began smashing plates in the kitchen, to show she could be as exciting as Kathy, grieving Stacey came downstairs and found out what had happened.

Stacey comforted her mum, who still had hope that Harvey still loved her, and admitted that this latest loss to the family would really hurt her and the kids.

Jean then called round to see Kathy, and prompted slapped her love rival. She was prepared to forgive Harvey so she made Kathy agree to stay away from him – but Kathy said she wouldn’t turn him away if he chose her.

As Harvey packed his things, Jean told him she wanted him to stay, for the sake of the family. But Harvey wanted to be loved properly, so he declared once and for all to Jean that he was leaving her for Kathy.

While Harvey arrived at Kathy’s door, sealing his decision with a kiss, Jean was left heartbroken that her relationship was over. How will she recover from this devastating turn of events?
