“Come Back Kelly”: Chicago Fire Stunt Video Drums Up Nostalgia For Taylor Kinney’s Severide

One Chicago fans are asking for Taylor Kinney to finally return to Chicago Fire

after seeing a newly-released behind-the-scenes video of Kelly Severide in the line of duty.

Firehouse 51 has been missing the Rescue Squad 3 leader for the better part of 2023

after Kinney asked for an unexpected time off in the middle of season 11. It’s still uncertain when he will return, but loyal Chicago Fire viewers are clearly eager to see him come back. After show gaffer Anthony Lullo (via @StellaBrett12) shared a Chicago Fire stunt video of Kinney doing his stunts and other set snippets, fans flocked to the comment section to plead for Severide’s return in season 12. Check out the post below:

The clip features a mix of footage from the set of Chicago Fire. However, it’s clear that the best one from the bunch is the thrilling jump that Kinney’s Severide makes with Jesse Spencer’s Matt Casey.

Will Taylor Kinney Severide Finally Return In Chicago Fire Season 12?

Stella Kidd and Kelly Severide in Chicago Fire

Both NBC and Severide have been mum about any update on when the actor may return to One Chicago. When news first broke out that he would be taking some time off, his departure was billed to be temporary while taking care of some family issues. Since then, however, all parties involved have been silent about the matter. This has understandably caused concern for fans who have been looking forward to seeing Kinney reprise his role as Severide in Chicago Fire season 12.

The circumstances are different with how the show handled Chicago Fire‘s Severide absence. Initially, the character’s abrupt departure was chalked to him being sent to an OFI training camp at the last minute. Considering his penchant for arson, it made sense that he would jump on the opportunity. Instead of leaving things at that, however, Chicago Fire continued to make a big deal out of it, floating the idea that he may no longer return to Firehouse 51.

At the end of Chicago Fire season 11, however, it seems like the show is finally setting up Severide’s return to Chief Boden’s squad. Tired of the guessing game, Stella Kidd stepped up and decided to talk to her husband personally and convince him to come home. Whether she’ll be successful in her endeavor is upshot that fans need to look forward to in season 12.
