Will Taylor Kinney Severide Finally Return In Chicago Fire Season 12?

Stella Kidd and Kelly Severide in Chicago Fire

Both NBC and Severide have been mum about any update on when the actor may return to One Chicago. When news first broke out that he would be taking some time off, his departure was billed to be temporary while taking care of some family issues. Since then, however, all parties involved have been silent about the matter. This has understandably caused concern for fans who have been looking forward to seeing Kinney reprise his role as Severide in Chicago Fire season 12.

The circumstances are different with how the show handled Chicago Fire‘s Severide absence. Initially, the character’s abrupt departure was chalked to him being sent to an OFI training camp at the last minute. Considering his penchant for arson, it made sense that he would jump on the opportunity. Instead of leaving things at that, however, Chicago Fire continued to make a big deal out of it, floating the idea that he may no longer return to Firehouse 51.

At the end of Chicago Fire season 11, however, it seems like the show is finally setting up Severide’s return to Chief Boden’s squad. Tired of the guessing game, Stella Kidd stepped up and decided to talk to her husband personally and convince him to come home. Whether she’ll be successful in her endeavor is upshot that fans need to look forward to in season 12.
