EastEnders has unveiled an exciting teaser for the upcoming 40th-anniversary celebration, with several storylines teased in the clip.
The BBC soap is preparing to honour the major landmark in the week commencing Monday February 17, with the celebrations including a fully live hour-long episode and an interactive storyline in which fans can have an impact.
With the anniversary on the horizon, the soap has now released a 30-second teaser for the week’s scenes, a major component of which will see Cindy Beale’s attacker revealed. As the clips play out on cracked glass, Cindy can be seen issuing a warning to husband Ian.
There is also a glimpse at Phil Mitchell’s storyline involving Sharon Watts and returning brother Grant, whilst Denise Fox is torn between her love for Jack Branning and Ravi Gulati, the outcome of which will be determined by fans.
Stacey Slater seemingly also makes a romantic plea to Martin Fowler, whilst Bianca Jackson – who has been held hostage by Reiss Colwell – will come back with a vengeance as she urges somebody to “back away” from a mysterious figure (it’s probably Sonia).
Whilst the previous live episodes have been notable for their blunders, Thomas Law – who plays Peter Beale on the soap – recently told fans to “expect the best” from the upcoming special, teasing: “We’ve done it before and I think we did it very well.
“There’s a lot of excitement around it. We’ve got a great cast, a lot of people have done theatre, so we’ll be prepared. Expect the best! In true EastEnders fashion, they’re just going to blow you all away. It’s going to tick all the boxes you need.”
“It’s a dream coming back to work with the likes of Adam [Woodyatt] and Michelle [Collins],” he said of working with his on-screen parents. “They’re iconic characters, aren’t they? People have grown up with those characters. I get stopped in the street and asked, “What’s it like having Ian Beale as a dad?’ It’s an honour really, it’s brilliant.”
